The Nerekhta ground robotic complex has received a new specialization – air defense. According to Izvestia, the machine is now also designed to combat drones.
The complex was equipped with two Kalashnikov modernized tank machine guns (PKTM) of 7.62 mm caliber and a radar station.
The meaning of such a solution lies in the economy of interception. It is unprofitable to shoot down a cheap reconnaissance or attack drone with an anti-aircraft missile, while machine gun fire controlled by radar costs only the price of ammunition. The robot is controlled remotely.
The NRTK "Nerekhta" was developed at the Degtyarev Plant as a multifunctional platform with the ability to change modules – reconnaissance, transport, and fire. Its scope of application is the protection of strongholds, and if necessary, participation in offensive operations.
