More than half of Russian enterprises still need import substitution of equipment and components. The most difficult areas for abandoning imports are high-tech, energy equipment, and aviation, Izvestia reports. 45% of companies experience a high need for machine tool replacement, and another 7% consider it critical. Components and parts rank second: 38% of enterprises reported a high need for domestic analogues, and another 7% consider their replacement vital.
The procurement structure is gradually changing. While in 2022 only about a third of organizations purchased analogues of machines and equipment from Russian manufacturers, their share has now reached 53%. At the same time, dependence on suppliers from unfriendly countries has significantly decreased – the share of purchases from manufacturers in friendly countries is 40%. Experts attribute the problems of import substitution of equipment to technological dependence, lack of investment to replace corporate systems, and a shortage of engineering personnel.
However, even these changes have not solved the problem in the most technologically complex industries, experts point out. As noted at the meetings of the Moscow Economic Forum (MEF), solving the problem requires "long-term" cheap money for industry and lower production taxes. Otherwise, manufacturers will remain in unequal conditions compared to foreign ones, and the solution of import substitution and technological leadership tasks will be delayed.
