Students of Tomsk State University of Architecture and Construction (TGASU) will develop digital models of academic buildings and the campus territory. Laser scanning of objects will be performed by drones. This was reported by the university's press service.
In September, TGASU launches a project-based learning program: 150 students will team up to create digital models.
Students from 7 areas of study will take part in the project:
- architects
- builders
- geodesists
- land surveyors
- engineers
- estimators
- IT specialists
The obtained digital models can be used for construction expertise of project documentation, as well as for preparing estimates and planning work.
Maria Gubanishcheva, Director of the Center for Digital Competencies at TGASU, stated that the university trains specialists who can work in a digital environment. In particular, an architect should know what data can be obtained from a drone operator, and an estimator should know how to work with a virtual copy of an object, she explained.
In Russia, developers have begun to actively use drones on construction sites. Drones can help with geodesic surveys, monitor the progress of work, and control workers' compliance with safety regulations.
