The Electromechanical Plant LEPSE has patented a step-down DC voltage converter that can be used in the aviation, space, shipbuilding, and automotive industries. The development is intended for systems where low weight and high output voltage quality are important.
The converter is based on a circuit with several power transistors connected in parallel. They are controlled by a special controller that regulates the voltage using pulse-width modulation (PWM). Thanks to the parallel connection and high switching frequency, the device is compact and lightweight, and the output voltage is stable and clean. An output filter, consisting of an inductor and a capacitor, smooths out ripples.
The technical solution can be used, in particular, in starter-generator systems of auxiliary power units with capacities up to several megawatts, where high reliability and minimal energy losses are required. The specific parameters of the converter are not disclosed in the patent.
