New Russian SUV "Kaban" Gets "Sadko Next" Chassis and YaMZ Diesel Engine

Avtomaster Plant presented an expedition vehicle with an all-metal body and a cargo base

The Nizhny Novgorod plant "Avtomaster" presented a new expedition SUV "Kaban", designed for operation in difficult off-road conditions. The vehicle is built on the basis of the "Sadko Next" off-road truck chassis and received an all-metal body of its own design.

The model is a continuation of the "Vepr" project, which was previously created using components of the "Sadko" all-wheel drive truck. Work on the "Vepr" stopped after the Gorky Automobile Plant ceased production of the chassis used as its basis.

The new "Kaban" is based on the "Sadko Next" platform. "Avtomaster" specialists adapted it for the tasks of expeditionary equipment and prepared several versions. These include versions for rescue services, hunters, shift enterprises, and groups that require a high-cross-country vehicle.

The SUV is equipped with a 4.4-liter YaMZ turbodiesel engine with 150 horsepower. The power unit works in conjunction with a five-speed manual gearbox.

The main difference between the "Kaban" and ordinary SUVs is the use of a cargo frame and components designed for heavy operating conditions. The vehicle is focused on trips to remote areas where reliability, maintainability, and the ability to overcome difficult sections of the route are important.
