The Sun experienced its most powerful flare in over two weeks. Despite the sharp increase in activity, experts have not yet recorded an immediate threat to Earth, but they do not rule out the appearance of even stronger class X events in the next two days.
Specialists from the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported the registration of a powerful solar flare. According to their data, the event occurred on the morning of July 22 at 09:35 Moscow time and was the strongest since July 7.
Over the past day, astronomers have recorded about 20 solar flares. All of them originated in the so-called geoeffective regions of the Sun, from where energy emissions are potentially capable of influencing near-Earth space. However, experts note that at the moment there are no dangerous consequences for Earth.
According to scientists, flare activity is likely to continue to intensify in the coming days.
