T-Bank has launched QR code payments for purchases abroad. The new feature is already available in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, according to bank representatives.
To pay, you need to open the application, click "Scan QR code" and point the camera at the seller's code. The screen will display the purchase amount in local currency and rubles, after which you just need to select an account and confirm the operation.
There is no need to open a separate foreign currency account. The bank does not charge a commission for the purchase, and the amount is recalculated at T-Bank's internal exchange rate at the time of payment. The maximum amount for a single transaction is one million rubles.
The feature is available in application version 7.29 and higher on iOS and 7.26 and higher on Android. To make a payment, the smartphone must be connected to the internet.
Currently, the service covers only five countries, but the list is planned to be expanded to include countries in the near abroad and Southeast Asia. However, the T-Bank application may temporarily not open abroad after a recent malfunction – users bypass the problem using a Russian IP address.
