Tula engineers invented a jet projectile that brakes itself

After separation, the rocket part receives an opposite impulse and begins to lag behind

Tula NPO "Splav" named after A. N. Ganichev has developed a jet projectile with unusual properties. After separation, its rocket part itself reduces speed so as not to catch up with its own warhead.

Additional thrust for braking is created by a special multi-charge through a nozzle block.

This solution allows for safe separation of projectile parts directly in flight. The rocket part should not collide with the warhead, and the latter gets the opportunity to continue moving with fewer disturbances.

Splav developers also provided a system of retainers around the perimeter of the warhead and a mechanism that reduces the sharpness of separation and longitudinal overloads. Tests of prototypes confirmed the stated effect.
