Omsktransmash has brought out a deeply modernized version of the T-80UE-1 main battle tank for testing. The main innovation was a radical enhancement of its protection.
The Soviet Kontakt-5 explosive reactive armor complex has been completely replaced by the modern modular Relikt complex.
Historically, the T-80UE-1 is a rare "hybrid" created by combining a modified T-80VB gas turbine chassis and a turret from a diesel T-80UD with a modern fire control system. For a long time, these machines remained unique.
The installation of Relikt dramatically changes the combat capabilities of the vehicle. Unlike Kontakt, the complex is capable of withstanding hits from tandem shaped-charge projectiles.
However, no solutions against attack drones were visible in the footage on the Internet. Apparently, it was decided to forgo them for the duration of the tests.
