Russia proposed to India joint production of new T-90MS with T-90M technologies

The project envisages the production of tanks with enhanced protection, modern electronics, and an engine of increased power

Russia has proposed to India to organize joint production of advanced T-90MS tanks, which will be a development of the Indian T-90S using solutions from the Russian T-90M. This is reported by Military Watch Magazine.

According to MWM, the proposal aims to expand Indian production of Russian tanks and provides not only for the supply of finished equipment but also for the transfer of technologies for the production of a modernized version at the country's enterprises.

India already has significant experience in producing the T-90 family. In May, local industry produced the 1000th T-90S tank under license, gradually moving from assembling Russian vehicles to producing equipment using its own production and Russian components.

Now Russia proposes to move to a more modern platform. The T-90MS is an export version of the T-90M tank and has received a number of significant improvements compared to the previous generation T-90S.

The vehicle is equipped with a new engine with a power of about 1130 hp, a modernized turret, enhanced protection, a modern fire control system, improved thermal imaging devices, and a digital combat control system.

According to MWM, the Russian side considers the project not as a simple continuation of the current license, but as a new program of industrial partnership with deeper localization of production.

The publication notes that Indian T-90S tanks were created based on technologies from the late 1990s, while the T-90MS received updates that appeared after many years of platform development and operation of modern Russian tanks.
