BMP-2M with "Berezhok" learned to hit targets without entering open terrain

Crews of modernized vehicles use drone data for targeting and fire adjustment

BMP-2M with the "Berezhok" combat module has begun to apply a new firing scheme that allows hitting unobserved targets from covered positions. Russian crews are mastering this method of using modernized vehicles during training, using adjustments from drones.

The main goal of the new tactics is to reduce the probability of detecting armored vehicles and their crews. Instead of entering open terrain, BMPs remain in cover, and targets are engaged based on external reconnaissance data.

The "Berezhok" combat module remains a key element of the modernization. It includes a 30-mm 2A42 automatic cannon, a PKTM machine gun, an AG-30M automatic grenade launcher, and "Kornet" anti-tank missiles. The complex is also equipped with a modern fire control system with an automatic target tracker and a ballistic computer.

According to military experts, the automatic cannon, when firing from covered positions, allows effectively covering area targets with long bursts. This scheme is suitable for suppressing manpower, engaging light vehicles, robotic platforms, communication antennas, and other objects located near the line of contact. The automatic grenade launcher complements the armament for high-angle fire at distances up to two kilometers.

A similar method of using armored vehicles has already proven its effectiveness on heavier vehicles, so now BMP-2M crews are also mastering it. The use of reconnaissance drones to transmit coordinates and adjust fire makes this scheme significantly more effective and expands the capabilities of the modernized combat vehicle.
