21 Domestic Pantograph Component Created for Sapsan Electric Trains After Siemens' Departure

Trains with localized components have already covered 573 thousand km on Russian railways

VSM-Service company has completed the full cycle of replacing imported components for Sapsan electric train pantographs. 21 parts received domestic analogues, which have undergone testing and operation on the Moscow — St. Petersburg route. The project was implemented as part of the localization program for components for Siemens Mobility high-speed rolling stock used in the RZD fleet.

The work included a full development cycle — from studying the design of the original units from the Austrian manufacturer Melecs and selecting materials to manufacturing, testing, and verifying parts in real operating conditions.

After installing the localized components, specialists conducted a year-long controlled operation of the electric trains. During this time, no failures of the new parts were recorded, and the maximum mileage of a train with Russian components reached 573 thousand km.

Special attention was paid to maintaining the characteristics and reliability of the pantographs, which ensure stable transmission of electricity from the catenary to the train equipment. The safety of movement and uninterrupted operation of high-speed trains directly depend on their performance.

VSM-Service noted that the project became one of the stages of a large-scale program to replace foreign components for Sapsan and Lastochka trains. Mastering the production of such parts allows reducing dependence on foreign suppliers and ensuring equipment maintenance throughout its entire service life.
