After Turkey's probable sale of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems to one of the Persian Gulf states, the "Triumfs" will be unusable without Russia's participation. This was stated by military expert and air defense forces historian Yury Knutov.
According to him, long-range anti-aircraft systems require special maintenance. The S-400 is not a tank that can operate for decades after delivery.
In six months, the expensive SAM system will simply turn into scrap metal. Therefore, coordination [with Russia] was certainly in place.
Knutov emphasized that Turkey itself does not have the competencies to train specialists or conduct a full cycle of complex maintenance.
Media reported that Turkish S-400 "Triumf" could be supplied to the UAE or Qatar. There is no official confirmation of this information yet.
