Owners of foreign operator SIM cards have lost the ability to bypass blockages through international roaming. As several users and two sources close to telecom companies told "Izvestia", access to websites and services prohibited in Russia has ceased when connected via foreign infrastructure.
Previously, internet traffic in roaming passed through the networks of foreign operators, which allowed access to resources restricted in the Russian Federation. Now, according to the publication, this method has stopped working.
The Ministry of Digital Development confirmed to "Izvestia" that the same filtering regime is applied to the traffic of foreign operator subscribers connecting to Russian networks as for local users. However, this does not mean a complete restriction of internet access — only resources whose access is restricted by Russian legislation are blocked.
Users interviewed by the publication noted that access to services that themselves ceased operations in Russia is still maintained. This refers, in particular, to Netflix and some foreign neural networks.
