The first wedding ceremony of humanoid robots in Russia took place at the capital's A. S. Pushkin Library-Reading Room. The event was timed to coincide with the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity.
The main characters of the event were robots Robert and Matilda, who had previously attracted attention as "cyber-stars" of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. In the ceremonial halls of the library, under the supervision of the registrar, the couple pronounced specially written vows of fidelity, using speech synthesis algorithms, and exchanged light bracelets instead of traditional rings.
The robots have domestic software. Operators controlled their movements using a remote control and telecontrol technology: in VR glasses, they synchronously copied gestures and movements, making Robert demonstrate kung fu techniques, and Matilda — ballet steps.
The "newlyweds" were accompanied by their pet — a robot dog named Dogmatik, who brought the rings. At the end of the ceremony, the new "family" donated books about modern technologies and artificial intelligence to the library's fund. The choice of the Pushkin Library as a venue symbolically linked classical culture with the digital future.
