Now MCD-4 passengers do not need to take out a card or phone to pass through the turnstile. Travel can be paid for using their own face – the biometric payment service has started working on the fourth Moscow Central Diameter.
According to the official website of the Mayor of Moscow, face recognition technology is available at all metro and Moscow Central Circle turnstiles, in Aeroexpress trains, on regular river routes, as well as on MCD-1.
On the fourth diameter, biometric payment works at 122 passages of 35 stations.
Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry Maxim Liksutov said that the technology will continue to expand. By the end of July, this payment method should appear on MCD-2, and by the end of the year – on MCD-3.
Currently, about 900 thousand users have registered in the system. On weekdays, they make more than 200 thousand passages on public transport using biometrics.
Everything works the same as on other types of transport: first you need to register in the "Metro Moscow" application, connect biometrics, and then when passing through the turnstile, you just need to look into the camera.
Special turnstiles with technology support are marked with separate stickers. In each line of turnstiles, one entrance and one exit passage are connected for the service.
At stations where there are no turnstiles, passengers need to attach the same bank card that was linked to the biometric payment service to the validator.
