Omsktransmash carried out another modernization of the main T-80 tank, equipping the vehicle with additional reactive armor, rubber-polymer surfaces, and slat armor. Once, the armored vehicle withstood 19 drone hits at once, the tank driver reported.
The designers focused on protecting the tank's hull from all angles. The new version of the T-80 also received electronic warfare devices.

Another important advantage of the updated vehicle was its high speed. The gas turbine engine allows the tank to instantly leave the danger zone. The T-80 also received a new sighting system, which makes it a high-precision weapon.
Earlier, T-90M tanks with the long-awaited Arena-M active protection system went into serial production. How effective it will be specifically against drones remains an open question.
