Electric car owners do not have to look for a free charging station – the charger can come to the car itself. Rosatom presented a domestic unmanned mobile electric charging station that can independently reach the desired point and charge a car. The new development was shown at the international industrial exhibition "Innoprom-2026".
Stationary charging stations require a constant connection to power grids. However, a mobile EV charging station can independently arrive at its destination – business centers, residential complexes, shopping centers, or parking lots near roads, Rosatom stated.
Inside the station, there is an energy storage unit with a capacity of up to 105 kWh. It allows for fast DC charging with a peak power of up to 60 kW. An electric car with a medium-sized battery can be charged in approximately 30 minutes using such a station, the developers said.
After charging is complete, the mobile EV charging station returns to the charging module on its own, where it replenishes its energy supply.
The station operates autonomously and is equipped with an unmanned movement system. Digital territory maps, computer vision, a camera, radar, and lidar are used for navigation.
At the same time, the device does not depend on GPS navigation, so it can be used in closed areas.
Rosatom also said that the system provides for operator participation, but in a remote format. If a complex situation arises that artificial intelligence cannot solve on its own, the operator can connect via a secure communication channel and take control.
