The State Institute FSUE "NAMI" has developed the NAMI-4123-300 marine engine for high-speed planing vessels with a gross weight of up to 3 tons. This 8-cylinder gasoline engine with 300 hp is a marine adaptation of the NAMI-4123 power unit solutions, already known from Aurus brand cars.
In its original automotive version, this 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 develops 598 hp and 880 N·m of torque.
However, for marine use, engineers abandoned turbines in favor of a reliable naturally aspirated intake system.
The engine also received a cooled exhaust system with an outlet through an outdrive and a dual-circuit cooling system, where antifreeze circulates in the inner circuit and seawater in the outer circuit.
Thrust to the propeller is transmitted through an outdrive, supplied by a Russian partner company. This import-independent solution is designed to completely replace popular foreign engines from Yamaha, Mercury, and Volvo Penta in Russia in the small high-speed vessel segment.
