The Federal Medical-Biological Agency (FMBA) of Russia has developed a project for a multi-purpose biomedical module for the Russian Orbital Station. Proposals have already been sent to the Space Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The idea is to move from individual experiments conducted on the ISS to a permanent orbital laboratory. In it, they will be able to study how weightlessness, radiation, and long-duration flights affect the human body.
The agency has already initiated several space experiments, four of which have been included in the plan for targeted work aboard the ROS. In parallel, FMBA and Roscosmos have established a working group for the medical support of employees in the rocket and space industry and the cosmonaut corps.
The first ROS module is planned to be deployed in 2028. The full configuration of the station, according to earlier estimates by RKK Energia, could be assembled by 2034.
