The simplified mechanism for obtaining placer gold licenses will cease to operate from September 1, 2026. As reported by TASS in the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources, the decision is aimed at reducing the number of issued permits and concentrating efforts on administering those already issued.
At the same time, the special list of Rosnedra with specific plots will be preserved. If one company claims a plot, the license will be issued to it; if there are several applications, an auction will be appointed. The head of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Alexander Kozlov, previously noted that the amendments take into account the positions of regions historically associated with gold mining.
The application-based principle allowed any player to quickly stake a placer without bidding. Now the focus is shifting towards controlling existing licenses – a step designed to increase the return from the distributed subsoil fund and bring order to a sector where hundreds of small artels operate.
