More than 30% of the Arkhangelsk region's production comes from Severodvinsk enterprises that fulfill state defense orders. This was stated by regional governor Alexander Tsybulsky at a meeting with the head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, and the leadership of shipbuilding enterprises.
Sevmash, Zvezdochka, Arktika, and related enterprises account for over 30% of the industrial production of the Arkhangelsk region, and about 12% of the average headcount of employees in organizations.
These plants also contribute almost 10% of the tax revenues to the region's consolidated budget, the head of the region added.
According to him, shipbuilding is a key industry for Severodvinsk's economy. Ships of strategic importance for Russia are built here.
The meeting participants discussed issues of long-term plant workload, retaining qualified personnel, and increasing employee wages.
Alikhanov stated that the development of Severodvinsk enterprises within the framework of the state program for the defense-industrial complex is no less important.
Currently, a new version of it for a ten-year period is being prepared on the instructions of the President.
The northern shipyards are very significant for the country's defense capability, the minister concluded.
