On the morning of June 21, the most powerful solar flare since June 3 was registered on the Sun. According to the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the M2.6 class event occurred at 05:46 Moscow time.
On the same day, two more flares occurred – M1.0 and M1.3. The last stronger event – an X1.0 class flare – was observed on June 3.
Thus, after a relatively quiet period of more than two weeks, the Sun is returning to an active phase. M-class flares are capable of causing temporary radio communication disruptions on the sunlit side of Earth.
