The Telegram channel "Russkiy Avtomobil etc" reports that the design institute FSUE "NAMI" may begin developing second-generation Aurus executive cars. The premiere of the new family, according to the source, is scheduled for 2030.
The main difference of the new generation, according to the channel, will be an aluminum body. In the current Senat, only the hood is made of "winged metal"; the rest is steel. It is also reported that the next-generation Aurus will receive a series-type hybrid system: the internal combustion engine will only be used to recharge the battery via a generator, and the traction electric motors will be powered by the battery. In addition, an all-wheel steering chassis will appear – the rear wheels will be able to turn up to 17 degrees.
It should be noted that this information has not yet been officially confirmed. The current Aurus Senat has been mass-produced since 2018. Earlier, the same Telegram channel reported that the Aurus plant in Yelabuga might be closed due to low demand, and assembly would be left for the Special Purpose Garage.
