The Russian Helicopters holding company (part of Rostec) will supply 21 Mi-171 helicopters to Iran. The equipment is intended for the Red Crescent Society in the Islamic Republic.
Nikolay Kolesov, CEO of the holding, reminded that Iran is a long-standing partner of Rostec. Dozens of Russian-made civilian helicopters are already actively operated in the country.
Today, documents have been signed for the supply of 21 aircraft for the National Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the first of which are planned to be delivered to the customer in 2027.
It should be noted that a large number of Russian helicopters, both civilian and military, fly in Iran. The most widespread family in the country is the Mi-8/Mi-17 series, and among the latest military novelties, the Mi-28NE "Night Hunter" attack helicopters were transferred to Iran.
Before this, Mi-28N helicopters began to be equipped with "Strelets" complexes with 9M342 "Igla-S" self-guided missiles to combat drones. The ammunition is capable of hitting targets flying at different altitudes and at a range of up to 6000 m. Whether Iran will need such an option is unknown.
