Embezzlement of 5.2 billion rubles from Roscosmos: Contractor's case goes to court in Voronezh

This refers to four episodes of large-scale fraud in state defense orders

In Voronezh, a criminal case concerning the alleged embezzlement of 5.2 billion rubles during the execution of state contracts for space and defense industry enterprises has been sent to court.

Sergey Gutenko, head of the company "Nagval Stroytekh", is a defendant in the case. The investigation considers him the organizer of a scheme related to contracts for equipment supplies and construction work for structures collaborating with the state corporation Roscosmos and enterprises of the military-industrial complex.

According to the investigation, between 2021 and 2024, budget funds allocated under state programs and state defense orders may have been embezzled. The focus is on four cases of fraud, each characterized by significant damage.

The case was submitted to the court on June 8. The prosecution is supported by a specialized prosecutor's office working at classified facilities. The date of the first hearing has not yet been set.

According to the investigation, in 2025, Gutenko left Russia and was placed on an international wanted list. He was later detained in Thailand, and in February 2026, he was brought to Russia after an extradition procedure with the participation of the FSB.

The investigation links the alleged embezzlements to the execution of contracts in the field of military-industrial complex development, where budgets and work scales are traditionally classified as particularly large.
