A service for submitting compensation claims due to train delays may be implemented on "Gosuslugi"

The initiative was sent to the head of the Russian Ministry of Transport, Nikitin

A group of State Duma deputies proposed implementing a unified online mechanism for submitting compensation claims for delayed departures or late train arrivals. A letter with the corresponding initiative was sent to the head of the Russian Ministry of Transport, Andrey Nikitin.

Currently, passengers must independently determine if they are entitled to compensation, prepare travel documents, and identify the recipient of the appeal. The authors of the initiative believe that this procedure can be simplified.

The mechanism could work through the "Gosuslugi" portal, the carrier's website or mobile application, as well as through the passenger's personal account when purchasing an electronic ticket.
Excerpt from the letter

Deputies believe that this would reduce the number of conflicts between passengers and carriers, and make the process of submitting a compensation claim transparent and understandable.

According to Article 110 of Federal Law No. 18-FZ (Charter of Railway Transport of the Russian Federation), in case of a train delay or lateness, a passenger has the right to receive compensation of 3% of the fare for each hour, but not more than the price of the ticket itself. The first 60 minutes of delay are not reimbursed. Compensation applies only to long-distance trains.
