More than 7,100 RZD locomotive sections prepared for summer: record maintenance volume completed

Electric and diesel locomotives adapted for the hot season

A large-scale preparation of the locomotive fleet for the summer season has been completed in Russia: 7,118 sections of electric and diesel locomotives underwent technical inspection and maintenance before the increase in passenger traffic. The work was organized by "STM-Service" company, ensuring the readiness of equipment for more intensive operation during the warm period.

The preparation covered 5,564 sections of electric locomotives and 1,554 sections of diesel locomotives. Engineers and service specialists paid special attention to systems critical for summer conditions: they checked the ventilation of driver's cabs, the condition of current collectors, lightning protection units, and spark extinguishing systems. Additionally, friction units were switched from winter lubricants to summer compounds, which reduces wear and increases operational reliability in high-temperature conditions.

The largest volume of work fell on the Sverdlovsk Service Department, where 1,529 sections of electric locomotives underwent seasonal inspection. In the Kuybyshev service circuit, 547 sections of diesel locomotives were processed, which also became one of the notable indicators of the summer campaign.

Timely preparation of locomotives is carried out annually and is directly related to the increase in passenger traffic during the summer season, when the load on the railway infrastructure traditionally increases.

"STM-Service" company notes that comprehensive diagnostics and routine maintenance help reduce the risks of unscheduled stops and increase the stability of train movement during peak operation.
