Red Warning Instead of Login: Max's Website May Lose Browser Trust

Let's Encrypt cited US sanctions

The official website of the Max messenger may face new difficulties with its TLS security certificate. A discussion has emerged in the Let's Encrypt community about whether a certificate can be issued and used for the service's domain.

A Let's Encrypt representative explained that the domain is associated with "Kommunikatsionnaya Platforma" company, which is on the US sanctions list. Since the certificate authority itself is under US jurisdiction, it is obliged to comply with these restrictions.

Let's Encrypt is under US jurisdiction, so it cannot issue certificates to sanctioned organizations. You can try another certificate authority with different rules that allow certificate issuance.
Let's Encrypt representative

Previously, Max's website used a GlobalSign certificate, but then switched to Let's Encrypt. There is no official announcement yet about the revocation of the current certificate, but the service representative's comment indicates that its continued use may be in question.

Currently, the Let's Encrypt certificate for Max's website is valid until September 4, 2026. If it is revoked or not renewed, the resource owners will have to find another certificate authority or switch to Russian certificates. Otherwise, users may see a warning in their browser about an insecure connection.
