Sales of the new light commercial electric vehicle "Sova 25" have begun in Russia. This is an all-metal electric van for "last mile" delivery, which can be driven with a regular Category B license. The first vehicles have already rolled off the assembly line at the Sova plant in Yelabuga and have been delivered to dealers.
A company representative explained that this is a small model in the commercial vehicle line — an all-metal van roughly the size of a Lada Largus. According to him, the "Sova 25" is 4 cm longer and 12 cm narrower, but the company would not want to directly compare the car with AvtoVAZ products, because the car is noticeably different.
The useful volume of the "Sova 25" is 5.2 cubic meters. The length of the cargo compartment along the floor is 2630 mm, so the van can transport long loads. When designing the car, a gasoline engine was not initially planned, so engineers were able to move the driver's seating position closer to the hood and thereby increase cargo capacity.
The electric van is equipped with an 82 hp motor and a traction battery with a range of up to 200 km. The maximum speed of the car does not exceed 90 km/h.
The company clarified that all Sova products are assembled in Yelabuga and are included in the register of industrial products manufactured on the territory of the Russian Federation, which is maintained by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
At the same time, the company representative honestly noted that some components still have to be ordered from China. According to him, Sova does a lot themselves: for example, the hood was developed and is printed, similarly the mirror mounts. Cameras are installed in the mirrors in the front and rear, and the image is "stitched" into a single picture on the monitor.
