iPhone for the Internet, Samsung for Calls: Which Smartphones Russians Choose

Analysts from "YuKassa" and "SberMobile" found out which models are most common among subscribers

Sales of consumer electronics in Russia in spring 2026 increased by 18% year-on-year, according to "YuKassa" and "SberMobile". At the same time, the average check decreased by 17% and amounted to 11,480 rubles. Analysts attribute this to the fact that Russians have started using the same gadgets for longer, but are not giving up purchases completely, and are more often choosing proven models in the mid-price segment.

The most popular smartphone among "SberMobile" subscribers for the second year in a row remains the basic iPhone 11. Realme Note 50 secured second place, and the main change in the ranking was the growing interest in the Samsung Galaxy A16: the model immediately rose to third place, displacing competitors.

A year ago, the iPhone 13 held third place, while the fourth and fifth positions were shared by Xiaomi Redmi 9A and Redmi 9C NFC. Now Samsung has managed to wedge itself between Apple and Chinese brands, while the Redmi 9C NFC maintains its place among popular models for the second year in a row.

Different brands, according to "SberMobile", also differ significantly in their communication usage style. iPhone owners actively consume mobile internet: about a third more than Samsung users, and almost 15% more than Xiaomi owners. Samsung users, on the contrary, talk on the phone more often: the duration of their calls is about 18% higher than that of iPhone owners, and 15% higher than that of Xiaomi users.

A separate trend is the return of voice communication. Over the past year, the average volume of voice traffic among "SberMobile" subscribers has increased by 25%. Experts explain this by the development of voice assistants, the popularity of audio messages, and fatigue from endless correspondence: a regular call is once again becoming a quick and personal way to resolve an issue.
