Anyone can do it: T-80BVM "flying" tank control compared to driving an automatic car

Mechanic Rybachenko: If you have the skill, there's nothing difficult about it

The control process of the T-80BVM main battle tank (MBT) is similar to driving a car with an automatic transmission (AT). This was stated by Pavel Rybachenko, senior mechanic of the company of the 74th separate motorized rifle brigade of the "Center" group of forces of the Russian Armed Forces.

The mechanic admitted that before serving in the army, he worked as a tractor driver.

If you have driving skills in civilian life, for example, I'm a tractor driver, then there's nothing difficult about it.

The basic pedals of the tank are the same as in a car. In this case, you need to "start with the clutch", and then control it with the pedals, Rybachenko explained.

The combat vehicle is controlled using three pedals: an adjustable nozzle apparatus (located on the left, also used for shifting gears), a brake (located in the center), and a fuel supply (located on the right).

The T-80BVM is a modern version of the Soviet T-80. The tank features increased firepower, enhanced protection, mobility, and command control. One of the advantages of the combat vehicle is its operation even in severe frost.

The T-80BVM starts at -40°C, accelerates in a straight line at high speed, and also performs jumps from a ramp. For this, it was nicknamed the "flying tank".

The T-80BVM began to be supplied to the Russian Armed Forces in 2017. The tank meets all modern combat requirements.
