Rassvet satellite from "Buro 1440" lost connection and burned up in atmosphere

15 spacecraft from the first batch launch remain in orbit

The Russian aerospace company "Buro 1440" lost one of the first 16 production Rassvet satellites, launched into orbit on March 23. This was reported by monitoring resources Celestrak and N2yo.

The reason for the situation could be a loss of connection. The press service of "Buro 1440" clarified that the remaining 15 spacecraft from the first batch launch are functioning normally.

Currently, six experimental Rassvet-1 and Rassvet-2 spacecraft and 15 satellites from the first batch launch are in low Earth orbit, having passed tests of key systems in space and practicing maneuvers.

The commercial launch of the service is planned for 2027 – by then, more than 250 spacecraft should be operating in orbit.

By 2035, the constellation will be expanded to 900 satellites. The head of the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadaev, called Rassvet Russia's answer to Elon Musk's Starlink system.
