Modernized PRV-16BM.04 Radio Altimeter Enters Service with Belarusian Air Defense Forces

The updated system has enhanced target detection and tracking capabilities

The modernized mobile radio altimeter PRV-16BM.04 has entered service with the air defense forces of Belarus. The updated complex was developed and put into operation after extensive modernization at the OAO "NIIEVM" enterprise, in coordination with the State Military Industrial Committee (Goskomvoenprom).

The key result of the work was the update of almost all main system components and the transition to a modern element base, which significantly extended the product's life cycle and improved its operational characteristics.

During the modernization, the radio altimeter received a new operator workstation, based on a specialized computing platform with an updated interface for displaying range and altitude information. Integration with "RIF" automation complexes and support for receiving data from the ADS-B system were also ensured, expanding information exchange capabilities.

A separate area of improvements was the introduction of a remote control point, allowing remote monitoring of equipment operation and management of its modes. The receiving path was significantly redesigned: a low-noise high-frequency transistor amplifier was installed, which increased the system's sensitivity, improved noise immunity, and overall operational reliability.

According to the developers, the product's service life has been extended by approximately eight years. At the same time, an increase in fault tolerance and an improvement in tactical and technical characteristics are claimed, including capabilities for detecting and tracking small-sized aerial targets.
