Scammers Posing as Women Attempt to Steal Accounts from Military Personnel

Spyware is disguised as an app for sharing intimate photos

Cybersecurity company F6 informed RIA "Novosti" about the increased activity of the hacker group SiribClone, which is targeting Russian military personnel. The attackers operate through social engineering: posing as women, they meet soldiers on dating apps and messengers, and then suggest clicking on a link.

The link leads to the download of spyware. In one scenario, the "girl" introduces herself as a programmer and asks to test an application she developed.

In another, she offers to install a "secure" service for sharing photos. As soon as the victim installs the application, the malicious code gains access to their social media and messenger accounts.

The attack targets both mobile devices and desktops. The scheme is based on exploiting trust and the desire for privacy, rather than technical vulnerabilities, which makes it particularly dangerous for military personnel whose digital hygiene may be compromised under intense service conditions.
