Gold mining company Polyus has implemented a video analytics system with artificial intelligence (AI) elements, "digital twins," and private LTE networks to improve production efficiency at mining and processing plants. This was stated by the company's CEO, Alexey Vostokov.

The video analytics system at gold recovery plants (GRPs) is used to monitor and analyze the quality of flotation (the process of separating gold from ore). With its help, specialists adjust enrichment parameters in real time, increasing the percentage of precious metal recovery.
For the Verninskaya GRP (Irkutsk region), a "digital twin" of production processes was created. The virtual copy of the enterprise is needed to test various operating modes without risks. The automation level in certain production areas of the GRP exceeded 90%, Vostokov added.
At the Krasnoyarsk business unit (AO Polyus Krasnoyarsk), a private LTE (a local wireless network operating under the 4G standard) was put into operation. In addition, the territory of the Olimpiadinsky GOK (a gold deposit in the Severo-Yeniseysky district of Krasnoyarsk Krai) was covered by a single high-speed communication circuit. It ensures the round-the-clock operation of more than 400 quarry machines.
