Russia is launching mass production of blanks for cutters from high-speed steel grades. The start of production is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026, according to RM-steel.
This refers to shaped rolled products made of R6M5 and R18 steels according to GOST 19265. Production will be organized in a full cycle – from heat treatment of blanks to machining on CNC machines and grinding equipment. The enterprise will produce finished blanks for cutting tools.
The company reported that a pilot batch of products has already been manufactured, fully complying with GOST requirements. The products will be produced in various formats with variations in thickness, width, and length, which will allow them to be used in various segments of the metalworking industry.
According to the manufacturer, the new products will find application in mechanical engineering, metalworking, and related industries where high-speed steel tools are in demand.
