Future Su-57 engine creators are massively put to work at machine tools

First-year students of "Wings of Rostec" mastered turning at ODK-UMPO

At the Ufa enterprise ODK-UMPO, future developers of Russian aircraft engines began to be taught not only design, but also full-fledged work in production. First-year students of the "Wings of Rostec" program passed the turning exam and received their first working specialty.

45 students mastered the profession of a turner directly at the plant where aircraft engines are produced. During the practical exam, they independently machined parts on machine tools.

The United Engine Corporation explained that the new training system should reduce the gap between designers and real production.

Future engineers learn to understand the principles of working with metal, delve deeper into the technologies of manufacturing and quality control of gas turbine engines.
Vadim Usachev, HR Director of ODK-UMPO

The corporation believes that this approach will allow graduating engineers who can immediately get involved in the development of complex equipment without long adaptation at the factory.

ODK-UMPO is the largest plant in Russia for the production of turbojet aircraft engines for tactical aviation, including Su-57, Su-35S and Su-27 fighters.
