New "Oreshnik" Feature Revealed: Warhead Selects Its Own Flight Trajectory

The warhead also determines the optimal approach speed to the target

The Russian medium-range ballistic missile "Oreshnik" has become invulnerable to air defense systems thanks to the ability of its warheads to individually separate from the carrier. Analysts of the Telegram channel "Voennaya Khronika" drew attention to this feature.

The Chinese portal Sohu explained that the invulnerability of "Oreshnik" to air defense and electronic warfare systems is also due to the use of Soviet-era vacuum tubes, which are immune to interference.

Military analyst Drago Bosnic noted that Russia may be working on an improved version of "Oreshnik". According to his assessment, the prospective modification could receive up to 8 warheads instead of the current 6, and an updated guidance system.
