The 6th generation MiG-41 interceptor fighter project was developed as a multi-functional platform capable of engaging a wide range of targets. Chris Osborn, a columnist for 19FortyFive, discussed the details of the future combat aircraft in an article for the publication.
According to him, the MiG-41 will pose a threat to fighters and reconnaissance aircraft, as well as air defense systems and even hypersonic missiles.
“This claim sounds ambitious, but potentially achievable if the aircraft were networked with satellites and other airborne and ground sensors.”
However, Osborn questioned whether the aircraft already exists and when it will be unveiled.
Recall that the MiG-41 remains the most anticipated project from the Mikoyan bureau. The aviation industry allowed for the appearance of a new interceptor in the second half of the decade, but there is no official confirmation yet.
Meanwhile, the Mikoyan Design Bureau is indeed working on a new aircraft, but it turned out to be the new MiG-UTS trainer.
