Specialists from Rospotrebnadzor and the Ministry of Health of Arkhangelsk Oblast conducted preventive measures on the diesel icebreaker "Dikson" (Mudyug class) after identifying a simulated patient with suspected cholera. This was reported by the press service of Rosmorport.
According to the drill scenario, one of the "Dikson" crew members felt unwell. The icebreaker's captain reported this to the interregional Rospotrebnadzor department. Medical personnel and sanitary service specialists carried out initial anti-epidemic measures.
The vessel was completely disinfected to stop the spread of simulated cholera. The "patient" was hospitalized in the infectious diseases center of the Arkhangelsk Oblast State Budgetary Healthcare Institution "Arkhangelsk Regional Clinical Hospital".
The training involved employees of the Border Guard Directorate of the FSB of Russia for the Western Arctic Region, the North-Western Customs Directorate, as well as the Russian Anti-Plague Institute "Mikrob".
In April 2026, an outbreak of hantavirus occurred on the cruise ship MV Hondius. As a result, three people died. The WHO stated that the "Andes" strain was the cause of their deaths.
Russian epidemiologist Gennady Onishchenko stated that hantavirus is not dangerous for Russia. The probability of its import from other countries is minimal.
