Before a long trip, the car should be checked for hidden beacons. As Vladimir Pedanov, a cybersecurity expert at JSC GLONASS, told TASS, attackers often attach AirTag tags to cars parked near shopping centers to then track them down in a convenient location.
Scanning is performed by any tracker search application — for example, Tracker Detect. At the same time, the specialist recommended logging into the official car application and checking the list of connected users. Old phones of friends, service masters, and especially former owners should be removed: each extra account in the system is a potential channel for unauthorized access and remote unlocking.
The expert's advice is not seasonal over-insurance, but a minimum set of digital hygiene for a modern gadget car. The physical ignition key has given way to an electronic one, and cleaning the list of paired devices becomes as mandatory as checking tire pressure. The tools for this are already built into the manufacturer's standard application.
