Rosatom head Alexey Likhachev stated that the state corporation is ready to return Russian employees to the Bushehr NPP in full, as soon as the risk of renewed conflict is eliminated. The situation at the site remains calm, he reported.
According to Likhachev, on May 8, media reported on an exchange of strikes between the US armed forces and Iran. However, no attacks on facilities in the vicinity of the nuclear power plant were recorded. Twenty Russian specialists remain at the construction site, and four more work at the central office in Tehran.
The first power unit of the Bushehr NPP continues to operate at 100% capacity. Approximately 2200 employees of Iranian contracting organizations are already working at the construction site, and their number continues to grow. The main work is focused on reinforcing and concreting the second power unit under construction.
Rosatom considers the project a priority. Equipment continues to be manufactured at Russian enterprises. For power unit No. 2, the reactor is more than 60% ready, and steam generators are 50% manufactured. Shipments of key equipment are planned to begin next year. Casting and forging of metallurgical blanks for the equipment of the third power unit are also ongoing.
