The "SamSat-Ionosphere" nanosatellite from Korolyov Samara University will broadcast a message every three minutes, ending with the words "Nothing is forgotten. 1941-1945".
As RIA "Novosti" was informed by the university's press service, the apparatus, originally created to study the Earth's plasma and magnetic shells, is being used for a festive mission. The spacecraft's call sign is RS75S, and the transmission frequency is 437.4 MHz.
Radio amateurs who receive the signal can submit an application until May 18 to receive a commemorative QSL card – an official confirmation of a radio communication session, which has been practiced by shortwave radio operators since the early 20th century.
Samara University designed the card as a mini-reproduction of the famous photograph by war photojournalist Yevgeny Khaldei, "Victory Banner over the Reichstag." The application must include data, date, time, and place of reception; processing will continue until the end of May.
