The "Russian Helicopters" holding (part of Rostec) has completed testing of the import-substituted version of the Mi-171A3. The machine is fully ready for serial production, and deliveries will begin this year, the state corporation announced.
The helicopter is designed for oil and gas workers operating offshore and replaces Western machines — primarily the American Sikorsky S-92 and the European Airbus H225 Super Puma, which were used to deliver shift workers and cargo to offshore platforms.
The Mi-171A3 is approved for flights over large bodies of water and can operate in any climatic conditions: from Arctic frosts (–50 °С) to tropical heat (+50 °С). The helicopter is equipped with two VK-2500PS-03 turboshaft engines, each with 2400 hp and a digital automatic control system (FADEC).
Maximum takeoff weight is 13,500 kg, speed is up to 280 km/h, flight range is up to 850 km, and practical ceiling is 6,050 m. The cargo-passenger cabin can accommodate up to 24 passengers or 5 tons of cargo on an external sling. The machine is equipped with an anti-icing system, retractable landing gear, and inflatable pontoons for emergency water landing, as well as search and rescue equipment.
