Companies developing data centers can themselves invest in the construction of generation facilities in Moscow to power them and implement projects with any energy company. This was announced to journalists by Deputy Minister of Energy Pyotr Konyushenko on the sidelines of the Caucasian Investment Forum.
For businesses, it is important that power plants and data centers are located as close as possible to the service consumption center, the deputy head of the department explained.
He noted that the issue of building new power plants in the Moscow energy system to supply data centers is at the business idea level. At the same time, there is already interest in such projects from companies developing data centers.
An option is being considered where companies will invest in the creation of new energy capacities for their facilities and will be able to attract players from the energy sector for this purpose.
