Yekaterinburg failed a tender for 50 trams on lease: 13.2 billion at stake, but no bidders

The auction was declared invalid - only one application was submitted, and it did not meet the requirements

The administration of Yekaterinburg failed to identify a company that would supply 50 three-section trams on lease. According to the auction results protocol, published on the public procurement portal, the bidding was declared invalid. By the deadline for applications (April 23), only one application was received, and it did not meet the requirements.

The initial contract price was 13.2 billion rubles. The city hall planned to acquire 50 cars manufactured no earlier than 2026. Strict requirements were imposed on the equipment: passenger capacity of 150 people or more, service life of at least 30 years, low-floor design, width of 2.5 meters, length of 29 meters, and a five-year warranty on self-contained battery packs.

In the summer of 2025, 15 three-section trams for Yekaterinburg were supplied by the Ust-Katav Car-Building Plant. The winner of that tender was determined only after a second auction.
