The Russian crypto exchange Grinex has announced a large-scale cyberattack, as a result of which funds worth over one billion rubles were stolen from the wallets of Russian users.
The company claims that the nature of the attack indicates a high level of preparation and resources. According to them, structures from unfriendly states may be behind the hacking.
From the very beginning, the exchange's infrastructure has been subjected to attacks. We have recorded systematic attempts to restrict the withdrawal of cryptocurrency outside the CIS: the exchange was included in the sanctions lists, crypto wallets were deliberately marked, and transactions were blocked. Today, attempts to destabilize the domestic financial sector have reached a new level - direct theft of assets from Russian citizens and companies using complex cyberattacks.
According to preliminary data, the stolen funds were converted to TRX and transferred to one address. It currently holds approximately 45.9 million TRX, which is equivalent to approximately $15 million.
Against the backdrop of the incident, the exchange suspended operations. All information about the hacking has been transferred to law enforcement agencies.
