"They ask not to put an end to it": Iran hopes for Rosatom's return to the construction of the Bushehr NPP, where 20 employees remain

Likhachev stated that the state corporation plans to build two more power units after the situation in the country normalizes

A total of 20 employees remained at the Bushehr NPP in Iran after another 108 people were evacuated from the station due to the deteriorating security situation in the Middle East. This was stated by Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev.

Among those who will continue to work are the head of the Rosatom branch, his deputies, security unit employees and technical engineers. They must ensure the safety of the nuclear facility itself and the residential town.

Likhachev assured that the Iranian side also evacuated its employees from the site. Only security remains there.

According to him, Rosatom should be ready to return to the Bushehr NPP. This is what Tehran insists on.

Our Iranian partners are asking, as they say, not to put an end to the construction, to be ready to bring people back and expand the work.
Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom.

The priority for the state corporation remains the construction of the second and third units of the station, Likhachev emphasized. All employees who previously left the nuclear power plant in Iran should wait for the results of negotiations and the end of the military conflict, he concluded.

The situation in the Middle East deteriorated sharply at the end of February. Iran and Israel, with the support of the United States, began exchanging strikes on strategic facilities. Rosatom has repeatedly stated that it is necessary to ensure the safety of the Bushehr NPP to prevent a man-made disaster.
