The Ka-29 naval transport and combat helicopter has successfully coped with the task of neutralizing unmanned surface vehicles. The Telegram channel "Osvodmitel" published a photo of the helicopter, on the fuselage of which silhouettes of five enemy vehicles are visible. One of them had missile weapons.
It is worth noting that modern unmanned boats are often equipped with air-to-air guided missiles, including modifications of the R-73 and foreign models such as the AIM-9M. This requires pilots and helicopter operators not only technical training, but also the ability to make decisions in conditions of increased complexity.
The Ka-29 is equipped with a four-barrel 7.62-mm 9A622 machine gun with ammunition for 1800 rounds. If necessary, 30-mm automatic cannons with a supply of 250 shells or suspended containers with paired 23-mm guns are installed on board. The arsenal also includes supersonic guided missiles "Shturm-V" and "Ataka-V", blocks of unguided aircraft missiles S-8 caliber 80 mm and high-explosive air bombs weighing up to 500 kg.
The flight and technical characteristics of the Ka-29 allow it to operate effectively in the coastal zone: the maximum speed reaches 280 km/h, the flight range is up to 740 km. The crew consists of a pilot and a navigator-operator, the maximum take-off weight of the helicopter is 11.5 tons. The combination of armament and maneuverability makes the Ka-29 a universal means of protecting water areas from modern threats.
